Mike Horn Unit
(For Youths 6 to 12)

Club open 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday

Sponsored by the Center of Science and Industry, Columbus Ohio

The first session begins with a 45-minute interactive assembly where COSI’s Body Mechanic repairs the disabled “COSI Engine” using his/her knowledge of the human body. The kids will be introduced to the nervous, digestive, respiratory, and circulatory systems, and discover how proper nutrition and exercise improve their function. This fun and educational assembly is followed by hands-on activity sessions during which the students will further explore the major body systems, and learn what it takes to keep their "engines" in tip-top shape.

The hands-on activities are presented in 30-45 minute sessions with each session accommodating 62 or fewer students. The kids will have the opportunity to take a close look at tissues and cells that make up the human body and discover that exercise if anything that get the body moving (a.k.a. play). In the hands-on sessions students interact informally with the activities, spending as little or as much time as they like at each station.
While many students will try all of the activities, some may choose to have a more in-depth experiences with only a few.

The assembly and hands-on sessions will be held in the PNC gym. There is no cost for the day's activities. Lunch that day is provided for everyone by the club through the grant. Steve Hare from Bimbo Bakeries is grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone that day. Lunch will be served in the Impact Room.

We encourage you to send your kids to the club on November 4 for this fun program. If you have any questions, please call Melissa Clements at 270-685-4903.
CLUB ACTIVITIES
AND PROGRAMS

Daymar College students visited the Club and taught the kids the techniques of CPR.

One of many programs being offered this semester at the Club is the Circle of Fitness - Golf program. Charles Whealen, golf pro at Ben Hawes Golf Course, shows Mesiah and Kylar how to hold a golf club.

Bucket Drums is a popular program being taught by T.J. Participating kids are shown practicing a rhythm on their "drums."
